So recently I am studying Branding as part of a large University project. So rather than not submitting new content up here, I’m going to post the inspiration I come across, from the business card to sculptures, hopefully I will cover them all. This project is by Ben Crick for the framing company Girt by Wood, ‘Girt by Wood’ is a boutique business specializing in simple, high quality, custom framing. The thing I love most about this project is the “hand made” element that Ben has incorporated so well with the majority of the material.

Calvin Ma is a sculptor based in San Francisco, Calvin explains his work well on his website; “ My work taps into this childlike sense of exploration, but is focused on a personal issue. Social anxiety reared its way into my life during adolescence and still lingers today. Byproducts of this debilitating issue include: avoidance of unfamiliar social interactions, heightened nervousness in the company of strangers, crowds, peers and intermittently among friends and family. I use art to encompass and reference the experiences developed through these symptoms in order to realize the origins of my problem and eventually overcome it.”

This particular project by Kissmiklos, is a great example of vintage meets modern. The black and white theme carried across the project with the occasional introduction of recycled material is classic and something I could most definitely draw inspiration from.

Nick Gentry has hit on something entirely unique and clever, he has created artwork using paints and floppy discs and has utilized the characteristics of floppy disc’s perfectly. In various pieces, Nick has made the most of the circular hardware in the center of the disc’s by incorporating them into the eyes of the portraits. This seriously makes the eyes pop and creates a great effect! hats off to Nick on this project.
