Philip uses a lot of dark with a sudden burst of colour in his works, the high contrast and dream like effect in his final images are effective. I definitely want to see more! Philip has a blog thats you can take a look at via his website, it goes back to October 2010, it’s worth a look!

I came across Antikbar on twitter earlier on today, and that part of my brain that loves the style of classic design went crazy. The owner of Antikbar started off as a collector of these fine examples of poster printing a little over a decade ago, becoming a dealer of his collectibles was a recent decision and by the looks of there products they’ve got a sweet road ahead of them.

These sketches are amazing, I find looking through someone sketch book is quite personal, and more interesting than looking at a final piece. You get to see there mistakes, the way they work and how they come up with there ideas. Some of Donny’s images look like real photographs and you find yourself trying to look closely at detail. “ Recently a new craze appeared, called ‘Planking.’ A person has to lie flat with their arms by their sides; feet stretched out and face looking downwards, expressionless. People all around the world are joining the craze and posting their photographic evidence on Face Book. ‘Planking’ has encouraged creativity and resourcefulness, and brought a community of people together from all different walks of life.
‘Ten Seconds’ could do something similar. Through play, people will be encouraged to be creative and inspire others. I would love to originate a harmless game that involves good photography. Using social media, I would want to make this game ‘viral,’ so that anyone can join in, set the self-timers on their cameras, and hide in the smallest places available. “

Most of Kevin’s work has very shallow depth of field, and he takes photographs of things such as flowers and leaves. The images are very eye catching, and the main focus of each image just pops out and draws your attention. The contrast and shades in every single image work really well.

I came across Norman on society6, his work instantly stood out to me. Every one of his pieces express lots of different ideas, his use of colour and line really compliment his work. The thing that stands out to me most about Normans work is that he doesn’t stick to one particular style, he uses a range of techniques and pushes the boundaries. ilove Cristiano Siqueira’s (AKA Cris Vector) work and always have done from a young age, over the years I have seen his work get even more intricate and creative, its amazing to see, and one of his latest projects included this one, he sums it up better than me, so enjoy.
“The Brazilian ESPN Magazine invited me to create a series of 18 portraits of historical brazilian sports personalities for their 1st anniversary edition, released in November. This special issue features a ranking of the 50 most important brazilian sportists in history.
I had the pleasure to draw portraits of some great brazilian idols such Ayrton Senna (F-1 driver), Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Romario (football players) Cesar Cielo (olympic champion and recordist of swimming), Maurren Maggi (olympic champion of Long Jump) among others.
All these portraits were done in vector, in Adobe Illustrator, using various photography sources as references. I worked a techinque of vector where I draw a very detailed linework, trying to capture all the facial features and making the basic shading using lines, then I apply bright colors, with a simple shading and reflections. The result is an organic look, different from the usual vector art style.”
