I’m a huge fan of BMD, in fact, as I type this two of his pieces are hanging on my wall (one of which is in the below image – far right, row 2). Brooklyn based designer Dan Cassaro has been a inspiration to me for quite some time. I've always been a fan of his work and hopefully you will be after seeing his work today. This collection of creative typography and illustrations come from the Fifty and Fifty project, curated by Dan Cassaro. The project attempts to construct a handsome new way of looking at our country (United States). Fifty designers, one per state; have illustrated their state motto by creating something steeped in history but completely modern and unique; a kind of designer's atlas. A mighty fine collection of creative typography!

"The Sign Painter" a short film created by Dress Code documents Mike Langley as he creates and handcrafts various signage for New York coffee shop Vassilaros & Sons Coffee Co. This short film has captured beautifully Mike's passion for his chosen craft. At one point he talks about how he would favor a company who had gone the extra mile to commission a sign painter as opposed to those who popped down the local sign shop and slapped up vinyl – I couldn't agree more.
Hand drawn custom typography similar to the style of Simon Walker is becoming more and more popular in todays market. Firstly, it reeks of authenticity; a welcomed trait as the opposed is mass produced and quickly designed, with small attention paid to details. Secondly, doesn't it just look great?

Dana Tanamachi is one of our all time favorite custom lettering artists and could quite easily be yours. What makes her typography creations even more beautiful is the fact that they are created with chalk and whilst this is quite an unusual choice of medium to work with, it has provided her with an edge over the competition and her work with a gorgeous authentic touch. Within this article I have compiled a few of her, in my opinion, best pieces along with some insightful time-lapse videos at the end.
