Here we have compiled an inspiring collection of hand drawn typography, all of which has been taken from the portfolio of Mateusz Witczak. He proudly states that he does not use pre made templates or patterns, and all of his works are hand drawn and 100% unique.
Whether I'm working on a new project or not, every morning I feast my eyes on some of the most inspirational art and design projects I can get my digital hands on. It flicks my switch of creativity and puts me in a great mood for the rest of the day. Rather than only compiling the work of one artist for an article, I'm going to make a conscious effort to document my findings in whatever form they come in. Today, it's another fantastic volume of handcrafted lettering. To see our other hand lettering volumes, visit …

Sign-Writer David Smith has created this incredible typography and illustration piece for the band 'Kings of Leon’, and their single ‘Beautiful War’. David's work never ceases to amaze me, and I never thought he could top his piece for John Mayer, but now I can't choose between the two. Lucky for us, David has beautifully documented the making of this detailed piece with the help of Photographer Alex Thornton and film maker Danny Cooke (scroll to the bottom to watch the short film!)
This creative collection of hand lettering was created by Portuguese designer Joao Neves. All of the pieces below were created throughout 2013 right up to recently. Neves is currently working freelance and is available for hire. He also regularly updates his Instagram with a bunch of inspirational pieces like below, earning him a spot on our collection of typographers to follow on Instagram.
I recently featured Paul Von Excite in our compilation article 18 Inspirational Hand Lettering Logos by 18 Awesome Typographers and realized that we had not actually featured his work before. This seemed a little weird as his typography skills are very impressive. So that being said, below I have grabbed 30 hand drawn typography logos from his Vol.1 and Vol.2 Lettering & Logotype projects for your inspiration. Vol.1 gathered Paul many new fans and he hopes Vol.2 receives the same feedback (I am sure it will). Pay him a visit and give him that all important thumbs up …
Zachary Smith is a freelance letterer and illustrator from Savannah, Georgia, and one who has gathered himself a large following across all social networks. His most popular being Instagram where he has nearly 60,000 followers! And we all know that speaks volumes. He often illustrates inspiring quotes to help motivate and encourage others and what I like most about Zachary Smith, apart from the obvious (his portfolio) is how nice he is. Just read the captions on many of his pieces, you'll see what I mean. Keep up the work Zachary.
Being a font designer, I am constantly seeking inspiration from great typographers and wanted to share with you18 of the guys that I actively follow the work of by presenting some of their hand lettering logos. Compiled below is a variety of designs – from the raw to the digitally finished. Sit back, relax and let that envious feeling turn to action.
Hand drawn typography is on the rise, and calligraphy is amongst the race. Recently, 'Calligraffiti' artist Pokras Lampas published this awesome calligraphy collection on his portfolio. Pokras also creates typography on girls, cars and walls.
The work of Tobias Hall has always been playful, colorful and refreshing to look at, so much so we have infact featured a few of his pieces before in this article. For his latest project Tobias was approached by the guys behind the first Lululemon Atheletica store in Europe (London, Covent Garden) to create this collection of creative typography pieces. The pieces with the various close ups below are by Tobias, but the other designs in the store shot at the end of the article are by typographer Christine Kawasaki-Chan.
"The Sign Painter" a short film created by Dress Code documents Mike Langley as he creates and handcrafts various signage for New York coffee shop Vassilaros & Sons Coffee Co. This short film has captured beautifully Mike's passion for his chosen craft. At one point he talks about how he would favor a company who had gone the extra mile to commission a sign painter as opposed to those who popped down the local sign shop and slapped up vinyl – I couldn't agree more.
Hand drawn custom typography similar to the style of Simon Walker is becoming more and more popular in todays market. Firstly, it reeks of authenticity; a welcomed trait as the opposed is mass produced and quickly designed, with small attention paid to details. Secondly, doesn't it just look great?
Jon Contino is a well known typographer from New York. Previously we have featured Contino's clothing line Barnaby Black and general work from his portfolio, but this time we are focusing on a project that he had recently completed for the Nike 'We Run' project. Branding, illustration, and font design for Nike's fifth yearly "We Run" global running series, hosted by more than 25 cities with almost one million runners.
Being a massive fan of hand-drawn typography, which should be evident on our marketplace and my dribbble account, I was excited to see this collection of work in one place. All of which has been carefully crafted by Russian typographer Evgeny Tkhorzhevsky, whos work I have been following for a while now and I must say that he is a great inspiration. Particularly his typeface work, but I'll save that for another article.
