Regardless of what project I am working on, I always manage to find inspiration from the design of magazines and books, even if it’s something as simple as a font or color combination. The sheer volume of work and talent that goes into crafting a solid layout design can provide a priceless amount of inspiration.
Within this article, you will find 42 examples of what I consider to be solid magazine layouts. I have taken each of the 42 images from 8 individual design projects and if that’s not enough, scroll to the bottom of this article, and you will find links to 100’s more.
Quick Tip: How long have you spent looking at layout designs? If you’re struggling to find what you’re looking for, try mentally deconstructing what I have compiled below. Start with the blueprint of the page, move onto the type, the style of illustration, the color combinations, etc. Remember that everything on the page should entice, guide and engage the reader (and in the order you want them).
