Amazing Intarsia Creations by T.A.G Smith

T.A.G Smith specializes in intarsia creations, he is inspired by the natural world and makes birds, animals, flowers and more out of wood. Tom has been featured in Craft & Design Magazine and was included in the catalogue for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year 2014.

Intarsia is a technique that uses pieces of wood of different size, shape and species, to create an image that gives an illusion of depth. The different pieces of wood are carefully selected for their color, grain pattern and texture so that there is no need for paint or stain. All of the colors you see are the natural colors of the woods. After the woods have been selected, they are cut, shaped and polished and glued back together like a jigsaw.
