Daniel Barkley’s paintings are perfectly proportioned and filled with imagination. Daniel has been included in many solo and group exhibitions across Canada and the United States (Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, New York, Santa-Fe etc). He was also short-listed for the Kingston Prize, Canada’s portrait competition; his watercolours have also won top prizes at national competitions, including the Canadian Society of Painters Watercolour’s A.J. Casson Medal 2002 and 2012.
Barkley’s paintings are at their core reworkings of biblical and myhological stories. His interpretations of these subjects are secular. Barkley wants to avoid connections to a particular faith that admits only one vision, although spirituality, mysticism and the supernatural are important element in his work.
